Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
This Policy explains how The Best Country handles data. We collect as little as possible and the Service is designed for anonymous use.
1. Data we process
We do not require an account. When you submit a review or contribution we store the country, your stance (like/dislike), the optional comment, an optional display name you choose to show with your review, the amount, and a one-way hashed form of your IP address used solely for abuse prevention. For paid contributions we also collect your email address, used to send your payment receipt and to meet our anti-fraud and know-your-customer obligations. Your email is never displayed publicly and is never used for marketing without your separate consent.
2. Payments
Payments are processed by PayPal (PayPal Pte. Ltd. and its affiliates), a licensed payment institution. Your card or PayPal details are entered exclusively in the secure payment interface of PayPal and are never stored on our servers. PayPal processes your data under its own privacy policy. We do not ask for your email on the Service: the payer email is transmitted to us by PayPal after payment, solely to send your receipt. We retain transaction records (email, amount, reference, timestamp) as required by law.
3. Cookies and measurement
We use strictly necessary cookies required for the site to function and to secure form submissions. We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the Service is used (pages viewed, time on site, traffic sources), and the Meta pixel to measure the performance of our advertising. These third parties set their own cookies and process data under their own privacy policies. We never sell your data, and we do not build advertising profiles ourselves. You can block these cookies through your browser settings or a tracking blocker, and browser Do Not Track signals are respected by these providers where they support them.
4. Retention
Reviews are kept as long as they remain published. Abuse-prevention hashes are kept for a limited period.
5. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction you may have rights to access or erase data relating to you. As content is anonymous, please contact us at [email protected] with enough detail to locate the relevant content.
